Safe CNC programming
In Line Production, ILP lets you execute NC programs on the actual Siemens 840D controller for Exechon PKM machines and see the results on the operator panel in vivid 3D detail. Operators verify the CNC program on the shop-floor and check programs in relation to the real part, the clamping , fixtures, and tooling to avoid costly production errors.
Visual validation is a natural way for operators to check that there are no tool - part - program mismatches. After executing a collision free program in the ILP window and the operator is satisfied, control switches to on-line mode and actual machining commences. The 3D simulation model can stay on-line “in-line” with the actual machining operation and give clear unobstructed views of the process.
How easy is it to use?
The ILP user interface has just a few button commands so it is easy to learn and use with minimal or no training. New operators can use the actual CNC equipment and make mistakes on the real controller to see the effect of their actions without any production interruptions or destruction of property.
What are the system requirements?
ILP runs on the Siemen’s 840D controller. The recommended hardware is the SINUMERIK PCU 50.3-P with an OP15, 15 inch monitor with 1024x768 resolution and 1 Gb RAM, Windows 2000 or XP operating system with HMI advanced version 7.1 and Siemens Open Architecture Licence for third party software installation.
What is Exechon and PKM?
Exechon is a new generation PKM machine that uses the 840D Controller. PKM is short for Parallel Kinematics Machine whereby the motions in X, Y and Z are performed by three or more parallel axes to give outstanding stiffness and accuracy with maintained flexibility within a large working envelope. For examples and a more detailed appraisal of PKM please visit the Exechon web site.
Will it work for other types of CNC PKM machines?
Yes. New models for different PKM machines can be developed by either the machine builder or by us and our partners. Siemens provides a PKM kinematic module for the 840D controller. Visual Components 3DCreate is used to make the equipment models. The main starting point to create a new model is the 3D CAD data. The CAD data is simplified for simulation efficiency, and correct kinematic behavior and joint limits are defined by the modeler and mapped to specific controller drives.
Why is this different to an Off-line system?
No mimicked or virtual controllers are used, no post-processed data or high level programs are interpreted - it’s the real axis data driven by the actula NC code that is fed to the simulation model. When you combine this with the ability to dynamically reposition fixtures and work pieces to match calibrated positions from the physical world, the result is as close to reality you can get without cutting metal. Any discrepancies between the perfect world in the Design Office and the reality of the shop floor are eliminated, so you can more confidently check for errors and trouble shoot before an expensive operation takes place.
How much does it cost and where can I buy ILP?
ILP is sold directly by Optikos Q and through its reseller network. New Exechon licensees and machine tool builders are invited to resell ILP as part of their system. For more information and pricing please contact us. |
